    Raspberry Cheese Bars

    1-1/2 cups flour
    1 teaspoon baking powder
    1/8 teaspoon salt
    3 tablespoons packed brown sugar
    1/2 cup butter or margarine
    1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
    1 cup raspberry jam
    1/2 cup finely chopped walnuts

    Directions
    Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. In medium bowl, combine flour, baking
    powder, salt and brown sugar. Using a fork or pastry blender, cut in
    butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in cheese.
    Remove 3/4 cup mixture and set aside. Press remaining mixture evenly
    over bottom of ungreased 8 inch square baking pan. Spread jam evenly
    overcrust. Sprinkle with nuts. Sprinkle with reserved crumb mixture,
    pressing gently. Bake 25 minutes or until golden. Cool in pan. Cut
    cooled cookies into 1 x 2 inch bars. Store in refrigerator.

    Makes 32 bars
