    Pecan French Toast

    Aunt Saunny

    4 eggs
    1/3 cup of milk
    1/4 teaspoon of ground nutmeg
    1 (8 oz.) loaf of French bread, cut into 1" slices
    2/3 cup of orange juice
    1/2 teaspoon of vanilla
    1/4 cup of sugar
    1/3 cup of butter, melted
    1/2 cup of chopped pecans

    Combine eggs, orange juice, milk, sugar, nutmeg and vanilla.
    Mix with a wire whisk. Place bread in a single layer in a
    tight fitting casserole. Pour milk mixture over bread.
    Cover and refrigerate overnight, turning once. Preheat oven
    to 400 degrees. Arrange soaked bread slices in single layer
    in an oblong casserole. Sprinkle with pecans. Bake for 20
    to 25 minutes until brown. Serve with maple syrup and butter.
