    1 cup butter, softened
    5 eggs separated
    1 teaspoon baking soda
    1 tsp vanilla
    1 cup chopped nuts
    2 cups sugar
    2 cups flour
    1 cup buttermilk
    1 small can coconut

    Recipe



    Directions:
    Cream butter and sugar, beating until mixture is smooth. Add egg yolks, and beat well. Combine flour and baking soda. Add to creamed mixture, alternating with buttermilk. Stir in vanilla. Add coconut and nuts. Beat egg whites until stiff; fold into batter. Pour batter into three
    greased and floured eight-inch cake pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes.Cool, then frost.
