    CHOCOLATE CHERRY CHEESECAKE

    SERVES: 16

    Heat oven to 350 degrees. Coat 9 inch springform pan or other pan with cooking spray. CHOCOLATE LAYER: In saucepan melt 1/4 cup unsalted butter, and 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips, and 1/3 cup water until smooth. Let cool slightly. Place 1 box 18.25 oz chocolate devils food cake mix in bowl. Add melted chocolate mixture, beat to combine. Beat in 1 egg. Stir in 2/3 cup walnuts, chopped, spread batter in prepared pan. CHEESECAKE LAYER: Rinse cherries 1 can 21 oz cherry pie filling, drained, syrup reserved, pat dry. Coarsely chop cherries. In bowl, beat 3 package 8 oz each cream cheese, and 3/4 cup sugar until smooth. Beat in 3 eggs. Stir in 1/2 tsp almond extract and chopped cherries. Pour over chocolate layer. Bake in oven 50 min. Let cool in pan 10 min. Spread 1 cup reserved cherry syrup over top. Refrigerate 4 hours
