MOM’S KITTLIN COOKIES

2 pounds creamed butter
8 cups flour
1 cup sugar
1 pound ground slivered almonds
A few days before making these cookies, mix a crushed vanilla bean with a pound of powdered sugar. Store in a tightly covered bowl and stir several times before using.
Mix ingredients and hand shape into small crescent shapes. Place on un-greased baking sheets and bake at 300 to 350 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes. Never brown.
Let the cookies cool a few minutes and, while warm, roll in powdered sugar and vanilla bean mixture. Place on a rack to continue cooling. Store in tightly covered balance of powdered sugar mix.
