    Crock Pot French Onion Soup

    Aunt Saunny

    4 large sweet onions, thinly sliced
    1/4 cup butter or olive oil
    4 cups beef stock
    1/4 cup wine or herb vinegar or wine
    1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
    1 clove minced garlic
    6 slices buttered French Bread
    1/4 cup Romano or Parmesan cheese

    In a large skillet, slowly sauté the onions in butter until softened
    and caramelized. Transfer to crock pot. Add beef stock, vinegar,
    Worcestershire and garlic. Cover and cook on low 6 to 8 hrs. Place
    French bread on a baking sheet. Sprinkle with the cheese. Place under a
    preheated broiler until lightly toasted. To serve, ladle soup into bowls.
    Top with a slice of toasted bread.
