    Aunt Saunny

    1 pound of butter
    1 pound of confectioner's sugar
    5 eggs
    3 cups flour
    1 tablespoon vanilla
    1 cup walnuts, chopped
    1 (10 oz.) jar Maraschino cherries, sliced in half, no stems

    Preheat oven to 350. Cream butter and sugar. Add vanilla. Add eggs, one at a time, beating cake batter between each addition. Fold in all but 1/4 cup of flour. Toss walnuts and cherries in remaining flour and gently fold this mixture into the batter. Grease and flour a tube pan with removable bottom. Pour batter into the pan and spread evenly. Batter will be thick. Bake for 1 hour 15 minutes, or until a cake tester comes out clean.
    When cool, dust with powdered sugar.
