    Aunt Saunny

    Ingredients
    8 pounds green tomatoes (25 medium size)
    8 cups sugar
    4 cups white vinegar
    3 tablespoons pickling salt
    3 tablespoons ground cloves
    3 tablespoons cinnamon (optional)
    1 teaspoon mace

    Method
    Put tomatoes through food chopper. Add sugar, white vinegar and pickling salt. Bring to boil and simmer for 3 hours in open kettle. (Mixture should be fairly thick.) Add ground spices and boil for 15 minutes. Pour into hot sterilized jars. Close immediately to seal.
    Yield: 12 pint jars
