Split Pea Soup

a.. 1 (1-LB)Package split peas
b.. 1 ham bone(with some meat left on) or 2 ham hocks
c.. 1 large carrot, peeled and diced
d.. 1 onion, diced
e.. 1 large potato, peeled and diced
f.. 1 small smoked sausage sliced
g.. 1 celery stalk, diced
h.. 8 cups of water
i.. 1/2 tsp salt
j.. 1/4 tsp pepper
Combine peas, ham bone or hocks, carrot, onion, potato, sausage,
celery. water and salt and pepper in slow cooker. Cover and cook on LOW for
8-10 hours. Remove ham bone; cut meat off bones, dice ham and discard
bones. Return ham to pea soup and serve hot.
