    Chicken Fried Steak & Country Gravy

    List of Ingredients


    • 6 medium tenderized steaks (cube steaks or minute steaks)
    • 1 cup flour
    • 1 cup milk
    • 2 cups cracker crumbs
    • butter as needed for frying
    • -------------
    • Gravy:
    • 3 - 4 tbsp flour
    • 2 - 3 cups milk
    • salt & pepper to taste


    Instructions


    1. Lightly season each steak with salt, dredge it in flour, dip in milk & dredge in crumbs.

    2. Place in medium-hot skillet with melted butter. Sprinkle with pepper.

    3. Follow suit with remainder of steaks.

    4. Cook until deep golden brown, turning once (second side always browns more quickly, so watch carefully after you turn them). Remove from skillet.

    5. Add 3 - 4 tbsp. flour to drippings, blending until smooth. Cook 3 - 4 minutes.

    6. Gradually add milk, stirring until smooth.

    7. Continue to cook & stir until gravy begins to thicken. Reduce heat and cook 5 - 6 more minutes.

    8. Serve steaks with a ladle of gravy poured over.
