Meatballs & Milk Gravy

List of Ingredients
- 1 cup bread crumbs
- 1/3 cup milk
- 1/4 cup minced onion
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 egg, slightly beaten
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/3 tsp. pepper
- 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
- ----------
- 3 - 4 tbsp. flour
- 2 cans beef broth
- 1 cup half & half
Instructions
- Soak bread crumbs in milk; add onion, beef, egg, salt, pepper & nutmeg; mix well.
- Shape into balls and brown in skillet.
- When browned on all sides, remove meatballs from skillet; add flour to drippings and blend until smooth; cook over medium-high heat for 2-3 minutes.
- Gradually add beef broth and half & half. Continue stirring and cook until it thickens.
- Add meatballs to gravy, cover & simmer 15 - 30 minutes, but do not allow to boil.
- Gravy may need to be thinned as it cooks, using either more broth or more half & half.
Final Comments
For years I've said this is one of the best things to make with hamburger!
