    List of Ingredients




    4 (1/2oz) bottles of red food coloring
    3 TBSP cocoa
    1/2 cup shortening
    1 1/2 cups sugar
    2 eggs
    1 cup buttermilk
    2 1/4 cups sifted cake flour
    1/4 tsp tsp salt
    1 tsp vanilla
    1 tbsp vinegar
    1 tsp baking soda

    FROSTING: 2 TBSP flour, 1/2 Cup Milk

    Cake:
    Mix food coloring and cocoa; let stand. Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs and colored paste/ Beat well. Add buttermilk flour, salt and vanilla, beat. Add vinegar and baing soda and mix by hand. Pour into two 8" greased tin or 9x13" pan. Bake 350 for 3-=35 minutes.

    Frosting:
    Mix well cook until thick. Cream 1/2 cup sugar, pinch of salt, 1/4 cup butter or margarine, 1/4 cup white shortneing and 1 tsp Vanilla . Add slightly cooled flour mixture. Beat until fluffy. Spread over cake. Double frosting recipe for thicker frosting.
