Cracked Glass Sugar Cookies

3 & 1/4 c. all purpose flour
1 & 1/2 c. sugar
2/3 c. Crisco shortening
2 eggs
2 & 1/2 tsp. double-acting baking powder
2 Tbsp. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. salt
Edible Glitters
Into a large bowl, measure all ingredients. With mixer at medium speed, beat until well mixed. If you don't have a KitchenAid mixer, you may find it necessary to mix this with your hands after most of the ingredients have been moistened slightly. Shape dough into a ball. Cover with waxed paper and refrigerate for 2-3 hours. Preheat oven to 350*. Lightly grease cookie sheets. Roll dough into one inch balls. Roll the balls into the Edible Glitter, covering balls completely. Place balls onto cookie sheet and press to 1/4 inch thickness using the flat bottom of a glass or coffee cup. Bake for 9 minutes or until the edge is just turning a golden color and centers are set. Store in airtight containers.
