Recipe Introduction
I bought a Crockery Cookery book a long time ago (copyright says 1975) and I have made exactly one recipe out of it. Used to make this a lot when I was a full-time working mom.
Very good cold weather meal
List of Ingredients
1 1/2 lbs lean ground beef
1/2 cup fine bread crumbs
2 beaten eggs
1/4 c milk
2 lbs grated parm cheese
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp black pepper
2 carrots, peeled and cut into 1" slices
1 onion, peeled and rough chopped
1 6oz can tomato paste
1 can Italian style tomatoes
1 cup water
1 cub beef bouillon
1/2 tsp oregano *I add more
1 tsp seasoned salt
1/2 tsp basil *I add more
1 10 oz pkg frozen Italian-Style vegetables, partially thawed
Combine beef through black pepper. Form into 2" balls. Drop carrots in bottom of slow-cooking pot. Arrange meatballs over carrots, Combine tomato paste with water, bouillon, seasonings. Pour over meat. Add can of tomatoes. Cover and cook on low for 4 to 6 hours, Turn to high. Add Italian vegetables. Cover and cook on high for 15 to 20 minutes or until vegetables are tender.
**I love to make it heartier by adding some noodles..whatever I have but I cook them on the stove until just shy of al dente" then add with the Italian vegetables. Makes 6 servings. Recipe
