Recipe Introduction
When I was a little girl I would spend a few weeks every summer in Connecticut with my Aunt Laura. She made the best sugar cookies. I asked her for the recipe so I could give it to my mom. Aunt Laura wrote it out, and I folded the recipe and wrote my mom's name on it with a 5 in the upper right hand corner (like a stamp). I just found the folded paper in my mom's recipes.Can't wait to make these!
List of Ingredients
1 cup sugar
1/2 c crisco
1/2 c butter
1 egg
1/2 tsp. salt
2 cups flour
1/2 tsp cream of tartar
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp vanillaRecipe
Mix shortening, sugar and egg. Add dry ingredients.
Roll into balls.
Grease bottom of glass, dip in granulated sugar and flatten balls with glass.
Bake at 400 for 10 or 15 minutes.
