Recipe Introduction
This is the easiest pie crust to work with.
This recipe makes 4 double crust pies.
When making a pie I find it is easier to use a pastry cloth to roll crust on. Also sprinkle plenty of flour on dough when rolling out, this way it won't stick to rolling pin or split.
And cut the shortening into the flour with a pastry cutter these are the little things that make a pie a cinch to make even for a first timer.
List of Ingredients
5 cups flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1 egg
1 Tblsp vinegar
ice water
2 1/2 cups butter flavored Crisco
Recipe
Break 1 egg in a 1 cup measure, add 1 Tblsp white vinegar, stir and fill to 1 cup with ice water. Set aside. In a large bowl mix dry ingredients together. Cut in 2 1/2 cups of shortening to dry ingredients. Don't over mix. Add liquid, again don't over mix. Roll dough into balls the size you desire for crusts and freeze, or you may use immediately.
