    Apple Custard French Toast


    2 - 3 large apples, peeled and sliced
    5 tablespoons butter
    1 teaspoon cinnamon
    2 tablespoons light corn syrup
    1 cup brown sugar
    French bread, cut into 1 1/2" slices, crust removed
    1 1/2 cups milk
    1 teaspoon vanilla
    3 eggs

    Saute apple in butter until tender. Add cinnamon, corn syrup, and brown
    sugar. Mix well. Pour into nonstick 9: x 13" cake pan. Top with bread
    slices. Mix milk, vanilla, and eggs well and pour over bread. Refrigerate
    covered overnight. Bake at 375 degrees for 40 minutes. Turn out onto cookie
    sheet upside-down. Serve squares topped with whipped cream.
