Pepper Steak Sandwiches

1 1/2 t. veg. oil
1 lb. sirloin steak
1/2 t. dried oregano leaves, crushed
1 lg. onion, thinly sliced
1 clove garlic, minced
1 green bell pepper, cut into strips
1 red bell pepper, cut into strips
salt and black pepper
4 (6") French bread rolls, split
1/2 c. (2 oz.) shredded Monterey jack cheese
Heat oil in lg. nonstick skillet over med. high
heat. Add steak. Sprinkle with oregano. Cook
3 to 4 min. or until steak is browned on both
sides, turning after 2 min. Add onion and
garlic to steak in skillet. Continue cooking 3
min. Add bell peppers; cook until peppers are
tender and steak is cooked, stirring
occasionally. Remove steak from skillet; slice
thinly. Season with salt and black pepper to
taste. Return steak slices to skillet; mix
lightly with vegs. Fill rolls with steak mixture
and cheese.
Makes 4 sandwiches.
