    Snickerdoodles

    1 cup soft shortening
    1 1/2 cup sugar
    2 eggs
    2 tsp cream of tarter
    1 tsp soda
    1/2 tsp salt
    2 3/4 cups sifted flour

    Cream shortening and sugar, add eggs; beat until light and fluffy. Stir together dry ingredients and chill dough for 30 minutes. Roll into balls the size of a small walnut. Then roll in mixture of 2 Tbls sugar and 2 tsp cinnamon. Place about 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheet. Bake until lightly browned but still soft (about 8 minutes) at 400 degrees.
