    List of Ingredients




    1 1/2 pounds of fresh or frozen okra
    3 cans of tomatoes (10 - 14.5 ounce cans)
    5 cloves of finely chopped garlic
    1 yellow onion, chopped
    3 bay leaves
    1/4 teaspoon of cayenne pepper
    1/8 teaspoon of dry thyme
    1 teaspoon of dry oregano
    1 teaspoon of Worcestershire sauce (optional)
    salt, pepper, and Tabasco to taste

    Saute the okra, onions and garlic in a little water, stock or boullion until the okra begins to lose its stickiness and the onions are nice and translucent.
    Add the canned tomatoes, not drained, smashing the tomatoes themselves with your hands or other device.
    Add the remaining spices and let simmer 1/2 hour.

    Serve over the grits over rice or cornbread!
