    5 Hour Stew

    Source of Recipe

    Bonnie

    List of Ingredients

    2 pounds beef stew meat
    4 carrots
    4 potatoes
2 or more ribs of celery
    3 large onions
    1 can of tomatoes
    1 tomato can of water
    3 T. tapioca
    1 T. sugar
    2 t. salt
    2 t. pepper

    Recipe

    - Brown stew meat and spread ove the bottom of a turkey roaster (must be able to go in oven).
    - Cut carrots, potatoes, celery and onions and arrange over meat.
    - Pour the can of tomatoes over all; then, pour the water over all.
    - Sprinkle with tapioca and seasoning.
    - Cover and bake at 275 degrees for 4 hours. There is no need to check on it during this time.
    - Remove lid and bake for one hour more. (This thickens the stew.)

    - Now we will see what I really do...add lots more potatoes, carrots and tomatoes. More meat too. We love leftovers!
    - I rarely use the celery; don't use the sugar or tapioca; and use less onion, salt, pepper.
    - I always add okra. It cooks to pieces, you don't see it and it adds a nice flavor without slim.
    - I usually add other veggies...corn, string beans, etc...of course, this makes it more like soup, except it may be thicker.
    - I add almost everything except the kitchen sink! Man, this is making me hungry!
    - We are in for some colder weather...I will try at least one of these recipes soon, maybe this week
