Scalloped Cabbage

1 iarge head cabbage
1/4 cup butter
1/4 cup flour
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
1 3/4 cups water
1/4 cup milk
1 cup shredded American cheese
Crackers
1/4 cup melted butter
Sauteed onions
French-cut green beans
Recipe
Cook coarsely cut cabbage in salted water for five minutes. Drain. Melt first of the butter in a new pan, add flour, salt and pepper. Add milk and water and heat until thickened. Add cheese. Put cabbage in buttered casserole. Pour cheese sauce over it. Add coarsely broken crackers over the top. Pour second melted butter over top of it all.
Bake at 350 until golden brown.
