Three-In-One Hamburger Mix
1/2 cup chopped onion
1 tablespoon butter
2 pounds ground beef
2/3 cup catsup
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup chopped celery
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon vinegar
1/4 teaspoon dry mustard
Saute onion in butter. Add beef and brown lightly. Drain off excess fat. Add rest of ingredients; simmer covered for 30 minutes. Cool. Makes 4 cups. See below for ways to use this mix.
***Easy Chili***
1 1/3 cups Three-In-One Hamburger Mix
15 ounces canned kidney beans -- including liquid
1/2 cup tomato juice - to 1 cup
2 teaspoons chili powder - to 3 tsp
Mix slowly in saucepan. Add remaining ingredients; heat. Makes 2 generous servings.
***Barbecued Hamburgers***
Heat 1 1/3 cups Three-In-One Hamburger Mix slowly in skillet. Use as filling for hot buttered hamburger buns. Makes enough for 4 buns.
