Sage Tea Bread
1/2 c. milk
2 T. minced fresh sage or
2 t. rubbed sage
1/2 c. butter or margarine, softened
1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
2 c. all-purpose flour
1 t. baking powder
1 t. salt
In a small saucepan, heat milk and sage just until warm (do not boil); set aside to cool.
In a mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar.
Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
Combine flour, baking powder and salt; add to the creamed mixture
alternately with milk mixture.
Pour into a greased 9 inch x 5 inch x 3 inch loaf pan.
Bake at 350 degrees for 40-50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the
center comes out clean.
Cool for 10 minutes before removing from pan to a wire rack.
Yield: 1 loaf.
