    Orange Quick Bread

    I am writing this recipe just as my Gram wrote it out for me LOL.

    Squeeze one large orange, put the juice into a measuring cup and add enough very hot water to make 1 cup.
    Put the left over orange rind through the food chopper(use a blender or food processor)put this into a cup add raisins or cut dates to make it one cup.

    Put fruit into a bowl add 1 tsp. soda and pour the hot juice over it. Add 1 cup of sugar, 2 T. crisco or butter, 1 beaten egg, 1 tsp. vanilla, and 2 c. flourwith one tsp baking powder, and 1/2 t. salt. Mix this all together.
    Then add 1/2 c. chopped nuts.

    Bake in a greased large loaf pan for 50 minutes to an hour at 350 degrees. Check for doneness by inserting a toothpick in the center. If it comes out clean the bread is done.
