    My French Toast

Hi Everyone, it seems everyone knows how to make French toast right? Well I have experimented with it for years and I have found this recipe works out best for home use. The kids love it and the adults well...lets just say I never get a complaint from them. It is simple but it has a little better flavor than most.

    French Toast My Way

I usually start with 2 eggs. This feeds my hubby and 2 grandchildren.
2/3 cups milk or cream depending on what is in the house.
    1 1/2 t. Vanilla
    1 Tablespoon sugar

I mix the eggs well then add the milk. Mix that well.
Now add you vanilla and sugar and give it a good stir.
Okay, now preheat a griddle or frying pan to a nice hot stage. Then add your butter, or margarine, or oil. This is a personal preference so use what you like or have available. Dip your bread into the egg mixture and flip it over so that it is well coated. Fry on one side until beautifully browned . You know, take your turner and lift the corner to check it out. That is the only way to make sure it looks good. Now flip it over and brown this side. When done go to the next batch and keep going until all bread and batter is used.

Now I will tell you what my mom used to do for us. And I do it now for my family. It makes French toast and pancakes just a little more special.

She would make warmed maple syrup for us to use. To make warm syrup you take 1 c. sugar add 1/3 to 1/2 cup of water.
Heat this until all sugar is dissolved. This will look rather clear unlike syrup. Now add 1 1/2 to 2teaspoons of maple extract to it. Mix it well and serve in a small pitcher or cream server and you have warm maple for your French toast. Oh so Yummy
