My Version of Coca Cola BBQ Sauce

I have been making this for years and it is my families favorite BBQ sauce. It is great to coat pork chops and also to make any form of BBQ whether it be beef or pork.

    4 c. ketchup
1-12 oz. bottle of coca cola
    1 large onion dice small
    3 cloves garlic crushed
    1/8 c. packed brown sugar
    2 T. vinegar
    2 T. honey
    1/8 c. soy sauce.
    Hot pepper sauce to taste.

Place all ingredients into a thick pot and bring to a boil.
Now, this can be messy to make because of the way it bubbles and pops. But, you have to cook it uncovered. When it has reached the boil turn it down to a simmer. I usually simmer mine for a good two hours. You can tell when it is to the consistancy you want. Then remove from the heat. You can use this immediately or keep it in the refrigerator for several weeks. If you wish to keep it longer freeze it. It freezes very well. I always make a big batch right before the summer cookout begins then I freeze it and I am set for summer. I take out a pint at a time and then I have no waste at all. :o)
