    Swiss Steak

    Source of Recipe

Inspired by a recipe on 3fatchicks.com

    Recipe Introduction

    Level 1 ~ Pro/Fat

I really missed Swiss Steak the way my Mother-In-Law made it with finely grated carrots. But I found a similar recipe, modified it and it was a hit.

A nice bowl of mashed cauliflower & celery root makes a great side dish with this sauce

    List of Ingredients

    2 - 3 pounds of Round Steak
    2 teaspoons salt
    1/4 teaspoon pepper
    1 tablespoon butter
    1 tablespoon olive oil

1 (29 ounce) can of Italian Crushed Tomatoes
    1 large onion, sliced thin
    1/4 cup celery, chopped fine
1-2 cloves of garlic (or 1 tablespoon jarred)
1 Knorr beef bullion cube, crumbled

    Recipe

Cut the steak into serving size pieces (about the size of a big hamburger patty). Season the steak on both sides with salt & pepper.

Melt butter with olive oil in a large skillet. Brown meat on both sides.

Transfer beef to crockpot. Add the rest of the ingredients and stir to mix it all in.

Cook on High approximately 4-5 hours.
