    Recipe Introduction

This is the only moisturizer you will ever need. Good for face, hands, feet and everything in between.

    List of Ingredients

    ½ cup dried rose petals
    2/3 cup grapeseed oil
    2 tbsp. shea butter
3 tbs. sweet almond oil (not synthetic)
    2 tbsp. emu oil
    1 tbsp. unpasteurized honey
    2 tablespoons pineapple juice
    4 tbsp. lemon juice
    Rose essential oil if desired
4 tbsp. distilled or boiled water

    Recipe

Cover dried rose petals with grapeseed oil in a glass jar (not plastic), cap and place in a cool dark cupboard for 2 to 4 weeks, shaking every few days. Strain out the rose petals and put in your compost. Measure 3 tbsp. of the remaining oil and put in a pot on the stove. Store remaining oil in your fridge. This is called a maceration.

Add other oils to your pot of macerated grapeseed oil. Stir over very low heat until blended.

In a separate pot, blend juices and honey over very low heat. Too much heat will kill beneficial enzymes in the honey.

Remove both pots from the stove and cool until they are approximately the same temperature (luke-warm).

Add oils to juice mixture, stirring by hand until absorbed. Place in freezer for a few minutes until mixture is chilled. Chill water in freezer as well.

Remove from freezer and whip on `high' with hand blender or stick blender. Add chilled water and essential oil, a little at a time, until mixture is the consistency of whipped cream. Ingredients must be well chilled. If they don't seem to be thickening, put them back in the freezer for a little longer.

Put into small, well washed jars (baby food size or smaller). Freeze any jars that you are not going to use right away.

Unfrozen cream should be kept refrigerated, as it contains no artificial preservatives. Put it up in small batches, so that each one will be used within a reasonable time.
    Rationale:

Emu Oil is the closest oil to human sebum. Therefore it penetrates and moisturizes naturally.
Shea Butter regenerates cells and stimulates circulation. Made from the fruit of the karate tree.
Sweet Almond Oil helps maintain the natural balance of your skin. Do not use the synthetic copy as it does not have the same benefits.
Grapeseed Oil is light-textured, with natural preservative qualities.
    Honey soothes, moisturizes and heals.
Water is the thing your skin needs the most.
Rose oil heals bruises and damaged areas and gently refreshes dry skin.
Pineapple contains bromelain, a natural skin softener.
Lemon Juice gently P.H. balances your skin.

    Notes:
This also makes a lovely baby cream. Substitute calendula or elderberry flowers for rose petals, and do not add essential oil.

Always mist before you moisturize. Skin craves water.
