Kool-Aid was developed by Edwin E. Perkins of Hastings, Nebraska from a concentrated liquid drink mix he had been producing. Problems with breakage and expensive shipping led him to develop the powdered mix in 1927. He sold the packages of 'Kool Ade' for 10 cents. The name was later changed to 'Kool-Aid.'

Joy of Cooking (Irma Rombauer & Marion Becker)
Two cookbooks have had enormous impact on the American diet and American cooking, Fannie Farmer's Boston Cooking School Cookbook (1896) and Joy of Cooking (1931).
Joy of Cooking was written by Irma Starkloff Rombauer and her daughter Marion Rombauer Becker (who also illustrated the original edition). It is a virtual encyclopedia of classic American and European recipes, with detailed and engaging explanations of techniques and preparations. Joy of Cooking has sold over 8 million copies in at least 13 editions (2000).
