    Quick: Cinnamon Walnut Quick Bread

    List of Ingredients




    1 1/2 cups coarse chopped walnuts
    1 tablespoon melted butter
    1 cup sugar
    2 teaspoons cinnamon
    3 cups flour
    4 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
    1 1/2 teaspoons salt
    1/4 cup shortening
    1 egg, lightly beaten
    1 1/4 cups milk

    Recipe



    Preheat the oven to 350ºF. Place the walnuts in a bowl, add the butter and toss.

    Stir in 1/4 cup of the sugar and the cinnamon. Sift the flour, baking powder and salt into a bowl. Cut in the shortening. Stir in remaining sugar.

    Combine the egg and milk and stir into the dry ingredients until they are just moistened. Reserve 1/4 cup of the walnut mixture and stir rest into batter.


    Mix lightly and turn into a greased 9 x 5 x 3" loaf pan. Sprinkle with reserved nut mixture. Let stand fifteen minutes. Bake about one hour, or until done.

    Leave in pan ten minutes. Cool on a rack.

    Yield: One loaf
