    List of Ingredients




    2 cups: chopped dates or apricots or raisins or dried cranberries
    1 cup chopped pecans or walnuts
    1 tsp baking soda
    2 cups flour
    1 cup boiling water
    1 tsp vanilla 1 egg
    ¼ tsp salt
    1 stick butter
    ¾ cup packed brown sugar

    Recipe



    Stir baking soda and salt into boiling water; pour water over fruit and Let set for ten minutes.

    Meanwhile, cream butter, brown sugar and vanilla. Beat in egg. Add fruit mixture and stir well; beat in flour. Add nuts.

    Pour Into greased loaf pan and bake at 350 until done(about 50-60 minutes.

    Let cool and sprinkle with confectionary sugar. Keeps well in fridge.
