    Coffeecake: Sour Cream Coffee Cake*

    Filling:

    ½ cup sugar

    2 teaspoons cinnamon

    ½ cup walnuts, finely chopped

    Cake:

    ¼ pound butter, softened

    1 cup sugar

    3 eggs

    1 cup sour cream

    1 teaspoon vanilla

    3 cups flour

    3 teaspoons baking powder

    1 teaspoon baking soda

    ½ teaspoon salt

    Recipe



    Preheat oven to 350 F. Grease and flour a 10-inch tube pan. Set aside.

    In a small bowl, combine filling ingredients. Set aside.
    In an electric mixer, cream butter and sugar until light. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after adding each egg. Add sour cream and vanilla. On low speed, add flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Mix just until blended.

    Pour half the batter into prepared pan. Sprinkle with ¾ of the filling. Spread remaining batter over top of filling. Sprinkle top of cake with remaining filling.

    Bake 50 to 60 minutes or until tester comes out with a fine crumb. Cool cake in pan 15 to 20 minutes. Remove cake from pan and cool on wire cooling rack.

    YIELD: One 10-inch cake, about 20 slices.
