    List of Ingredients

    2 cups raisins
1 can (14 ounces) sweetened condensed milk
    1 tablespoon grated lemon rind
1 cup butter or margarine, softened
1-1/3 cups firmly packed dark brown sugar
    1-1/2 teaspoons vanilla
    1-3/4 cups flour
    1/2 teaspoon salt
    1/2 teaspoon baking soda
    2-1/2 cups quick oats, uncooked
    1/4 cup wheat germ

    Recipe

Chop raisins and combine with sweetened condensed milk and lemon rind in saucepan. Heat over medium heat, stirring constantly just until mixture begins to bubble. Remove from heat; cool slightly. In large bowl, cream together butter, sugar and vanilla. Sift together flour, salt and soda; mix in oats and wheat germ. Add to butter mixture and blend until crumbly and evenly mixed. Pack half of the mixture into a greased 13 x 9-inch pan. Cover with raisin filling. Sprinkle with remaining crumbly mixture. Pat lightly. Bake at 375° F for 25 to 30 minutes or until golden brown. Cool. Cut into 1 x 2-inch bars.

    Makes 4 dozen.
