    Bars: Pecan Pie Cookie Bars

    List of Ingredients

    2 cup all-purpose flour sifted
    1 tsp baking powder
    1 dsh salt
    2/3 cup brown sugar firmly packed
    1/2 cup soft butter or butter-flavored shortening

    Filling:
    4 eggs
    1/2 cup brown sugar firmly packed
    1/3 cup all-purpose flour
    1 tsp salt
    1 1/2 cup dark corn syrup
    2 tsp vanilla extract
    3/4 cup pecans coarsely chopped

    Recipe

    Crust: Sift together flour, baking powder and salt. Mix in brown sugar. Cut in butter; mixture will be dry. Place in bottom off a well-greased 9- by 13-inch pan. Bake at 325 degrees 10-12 minutes. Remove from oven and set aside.

    Filling: Beat together eggs, brown sugar, flour and salt. Add corn syrup and vanilla; mix well. Pour over baked crust; sprinkle with pecans. Bake at 325 degrees for 40-45 minutes. Cut into bars while still warm.

    NOTES : Cook says the Pecan Pie Cookie Bars are "great served plain or with whipped topping or ice cream."
