Recipe Introduction
"If you take this to a meeting, party or potluck, you might as well bring along copies of the recipe and save yourself time later on, because you will get many requests for it."
List of Ingredients
1 box brownie mix (for a 9- by 13-inch pan; do use one with added pudding or chocolate syrup)
ingredients called for on pkg. directions to make brownies
3 (6-ounce) Symphony milk chocolate bars with almonds and toffee chips
Recipe
Heat oven to 350 degrees. Mist a 13- by 9-inch baking dish with non-stick spray and set aside.
In a bowl, stir brownie mix and all ingredients called for on the box (usually something like 2 eggs, 1/4 cup water, 1/2 cup oil). Spread 1/2 of the batter in the prepared baking dish. Lay chocolate bars on batter; they should exactly fit into the dish. Cover bars with remaining brownie batter, using the back of a spoon or a spatula to spread evenly. All chocolate bars should be covered, although it will look like a thin layer.
Bake for 30 minutes. Remove from oven and cool pan on a rack. When cool, cut brownies and serve. (Store in a covered container at room temperature.)
Makes 64 pieces.
Notes: Be sure to use the large, thick, oversize chocolate bars. If you use the thin, single-serving bars, it won’t work the same. Be sure to buy a brownie mix that specifies it is for a 13- by 9-inch pan; some are meant for an 8-inch square pan.
