    6 ounces unsweetened chocolate
    1 1/2 sticks unsalted butter (3/4 cup)
    4 eggs
    2 tablespoons (yes, tablespoons!) vanilla extract
    1/2 teaspoon salt
    1 3/4 cups white sugar
    1 cup (packed) brown sugar
    1 1/2 cups flour
    1 1/2 cups chopped nuts (I prefer pecans)

    (I love the fact that this recipe calls for a 9-by-13-inch baking dish rather than 8-by-8!) Butter the baking dish well and preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. In a heavy saucepan combine the chocolate and butter and melt them over low heat, stirring. Allow this mixture to cool to room temperature.

    Meanwhile, combine the eggs, vanilla, salt, white sugar and brown sugar in a large bowl. Using an electric mixer, beat this mixture well, until it is very smooth. Then mix in the cooled chocolate mixture, but do not beat. Stir in the flour until the batter is just combined. Do not beat.

    Stir in the chopped nuts. Spread the batter into the buttered pan and bake for about 25 minutes. Allow to cool and cut into squares. YUM!
