Gingerbread: GRANDMA'S Molasses

List of Ingredients
- 1 stick of butter
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 cup Grandma's Molasses
- 1 egg
- 2 1/4 cups flour
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 tsp baking POWDER
- 1 tsp baking SODA
- 2 tsp ginger
- 2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp ground cloves
- 1 cup BOILING water
- Optional:
- 1 tsp grated orange zest
- 1/2 cup walnuts
Instructions
- Heat oven to 350 degrees F.
- Beat butter with sugar and molasses. Stir in egg.
- Sift all dry ingredients into a separate bowl and add to wet mixture, alternately with the hot water until just combined.
- Bake in greased 9-inch square pan for 40 minutes.
- Let cool. I sprinkle Confectionery sugar on top.
