List of Ingredients
1/2 cup butter, (1 stick)
1/2 cup butter flavored shortening
2 cups + 1/3 cup white granulated sugar, divided
4 large eggs
1 cup milk
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
3 cups flour
3 level teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
powdered confectioners sugar
Recipe
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Grease a 10 inch tube or fluted tube pan.
Sift flour, baking powder and salt together and set
aside. Stir together cinnamon and the 1/3 cup sugar.
Sprinkle 1 1/2 teaspoons of cinnamon sugar into the
tube pan, then set aside.
Cream butter and shortening together.
Gradually, add the 2 cups sugar; creaming until fluffy.
Add eggs, one at a time, making sure to beat well after
each addition.
Combine milk and vanilla, and set aside.
Add flour mixture to creamed mixture, alternately with
milk mixture, beating just enough after each to keep the
batter smooth.
Spoon 1/3 of batter into the tube pan.
Sprinkle with 1/2 of remaining cinnamon sugar.
Top with another 1/3 of batter.
Repeat with remaining cinnamon sugar and remaining
batter. Smooth top with a spatula.
Bake for 1 hour and 15 minutes or until cake tester comes
out clean. Let cool 10 minutes in the pan. Then remove to a wire rack to cool completely.
Dust with powdered confectioners sugar.
NOTE: May be prepared several days before serving if kept refrigerated, or several weeks if frozen.
