Tomato Soup Cake

This was Dad's favorite cake. A cream cheese frosting is best!
List of Ingredients
- 2 cups sifted cake flour
- 1 Tblsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 tsp. powdered cloves
- 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
- 1 cups seedless raisins
- 1/2 cup shortening (Crisco)
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 well beaten eggs
- 1 can (1 1/4 cups) condensed tomato soup
Instructions
- Sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda and spices.
- Wash and cut raisins. Roll them in a small amount of the flour mixture.
- Cream shortening; gradually add sugar then eggs, mixing thoroughly.
- Add flour mixture alternately with soup; stir until smooth. Fold in raisins.
- Pour into 2 greased and floured 8-inch layer pans.
- Bake at 375 degrees for 35 minutes or until done. Frost with a cream cheese frosting.
