    This was Dad's favorite cake. A cream cheese frosting is best!


    List of Ingredients


    • 2 cups sifted cake flour
    • 1 Tblsp. baking powder
    • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
    • 1/2 tsp. powdered cloves
    • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
    • 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
    • 1 cups seedless raisins
    • 1/2 cup shortening (Crisco)
    • 1 cup sugar
    • 2 well beaten eggs
    • 1 can (1 1/4 cups) condensed tomato soup


    Instructions


    1. Sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda and spices.
    2. Wash and cut raisins. Roll them in a small amount of the flour mixture.
    3. Cream shortening; gradually add sugar then eggs, mixing thoroughly.
    4. Add flour mixture alternately with soup; stir until smooth. Fold in raisins.
    5. Pour into 2 greased and floured 8-inch layer pans.
    6. Bake at 375 degrees for 35 minutes or until done. Frost with a cream cheese frosting.
