Peach: Warm Old-Fashioned Peach Cake

"You can assemble this cake in less time than it takes to preheat the oven.The peaches start out on the top, but watch them through the oven window as the cake bakes over them."
List of Ingredients
1/4 lb. (1 stick) butter or margerine, cut into pieces
2 cups all purpose flour
2 cups sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
4 tsp. baking powder
1 1/2 cups whole or low-fat milk
1 16 oz. pkg. frozen sliced peaches, NOT defrosted
Lightly sweetened whipped cream for serving, optional (Vanilla ice cream is also yummy!)
Recipe
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Put butter in a 9 x 13-inch baking dish; place in oven until butter is melted. In a large bowl,stir together flour, sugar, salt and baking powder. Stir in milk until smooth. Pour batter over melted butter. With a rubber spatula, push batter into corners of the pan. Arrange peaches over batter. Bake for 50 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm with whipped cream, if desired.
