"I took first place in the County Fair, six years runnin’ with this secret recipe Honey Taffy. I intended to take this recipe to the grave with me, but Pa said the world would be a sad place without my Taffy, so I spect in the interest of world happiness, I am duty bound to share this recipe."
List of Ingredients
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup light corn syrup
1/2 cup honey
pinch cream of tartar
2 TBS. butter
1 tsp. vinegar (the secret)
Recipe
Put the sugar, syrup, and honey in yer heavy pot. Heat til the sugar dissappears, then add the cream of tartar (just a pinch, now) and boil, stirrin all the time for about 20 minutes. (Note, if ya keep switchin’ stirrin’ arms, ya kin firm up them flappy things on the backside of yer arms.) Add the vinegar and butter and let it boil up, then pour into a buttered pan. Cool, pull and cut. Wrap the taffy in wax paper. Ya can add other flavorins to the taffy if ya like, and colorin’s too. Just a touch of each should do.
