    Peanut Butter Chocolate Kisses

    Adapted from 500 Treasured Country Recipes from Martha Storey & Friends

    List of Ingredients




    1/2 cup peanut butter
    1/2 cup shortening
    1/2 cup brown sugar
    1/2 cup granulated sugar
    1 egg
    2 Tbsp. milk
    1 tsp. vanilla extract
    1-3/4 cups all-purpose flour
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1/2 tsp. salt
    Sugar for rolling
    48 chocolate kiss candies

    Recipe



    Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Cream together the peanut butter, shortening, and sugars. Add the egg, milk, and vanilla; mix well. In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, soda and salt. Gradually combine the flour mixture and the peanut butter mixture. Shape dough into one-inch balls. Roll in sugar and place on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake for eight minutes. Remove from oven and place a chocolate kiss on top of each cookie, then press it down so that the cookie cracks around the edges. Return to the oven and bake for two to five minutes longer until brown.
