Icebox: Date Nut Icebox Cookies

List of Ingredients

4 cups flour
1 Box brown sugar
1 cup shortening
2 eggs
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. vanilla

Filling:
1 Box pitted dates
1 cup sugar
1 cup water
1 cup chopped nuts




Recipe

Mix dough in order given. Divide into 3 parts. Roll each part to 1/4" thick on wax paper.

Cook filling to desired thickness, Cool. Spread cooled filling on dough. Roll like a jelly roll Chill until firm. Slice and bake at 325 for 12-18 minutes. Don't overbake. May be frozen until ready to bake.
