    Fruit: Ginger-Orange Strawberry Shortcake

    List of Ingredients

    2 cup. all-purpose flour

    2 tbsp. sugar

    1 tbsp. baking powder

    1/2 tsp. baking soda

    1/4 tsp. salt

    1/2 cp. (butter

    2 tbsp. finely chopped crystallized ginger

    1 tbsp. finely chopped fresh ginger

    1 tbsp. grated orange zest

    1/2 cp. sour cream

    1/4 cp. milk

    Milk

    Recipe

    In a large bowl, combine flour, 2 tablespoons sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Using pastry blender or two knives, cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in crystallized ginger, fresh ginger and zest.

    In small bowl, whisk together sour cream and 1/4 cup milk; add all at once to dry mixture, stirring with fork to make a soft, slightly sticky dough. Gather into ball and place on lightly floured surface.

    Knead dough gently about 8 times or until smooth. Roll out into 8-inch circle and place on baking sheet.

    Lightly brush dough with milk and sprinkle with sugar. Bake at 425 deg; F oven for 20 minutes or until top is golden brown.
