12 oz. semi-sweet chocolate chips
2 1/2 Tbsp. granulated sugar
3 eggs, separated
1 pt. whipping cream
11 or 14 oz. angel food cake
toasted almonds, chopped
Recipe
Break angel food cake in bite-size chunks.
Melt chocolate chips with sugar. Add beaten egg yolks. Cool 5 minutes.
Fold in beaten egg whites. Mixture will be stiff. Fold in
whipped cream.
Lightly grease 9 x 13-inch pan. Put half of cake chunks in bottom of pan; cover with half chocolate mixture.
Repeat cake chunks and chocolate mixture. Top with chopped toasted almonds. Leave in refrigerator overnight.
May be served with a dab of whipped cream and maraschino cherry on top.
