Pudding: Banana Pudding II

List of Ingredients
3/4 cup granulated sugar
3 tablespoons flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 stick butter
3 cups milk
1 teaspoon vanilla flavoring
3 egg yolks
Vanilla wafers
Sliced bananas
Meringue Topping:
3 egg whites
1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
8 tablespoons granulated sugar
Recipe
Put sugar, flour and salt in a saucepan. Mix in egg yolks and milk and cook on medium heat until slightly thickened. Add butter and flavoring.
In a glass bowl or dish, put a layer of vanilla wafers and then a layer of sliced bananas. Repeat for three layers.
Pour cooked mixture over vanilla wafers and bananas.
For topping, preheat oven to 325 degrees. Beat egg whites and cream of tartar until stiff. Gradually add 8 tablespoons granulated sugar. Spoon this meringue mixture on top of pudding and cook in oven on middle rack until meringue is lightly browned.
