Pudding: Olde-Fashioned Banana Pudding

4 cups milk
6 egg yolks, lightly beaten
3/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup flour
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 pound vanilla wafers
3 pounds bananas, peeled and sliced
Recipe
In a medium saucepan over low heat, heat milk until lukewarm (105°F).
In a large bowl, combine egg yolks, sugar, flour, and vanilla extract; beat until smooth. Whisk into the warm milk until thickened. Strain.
In a 2-quart casserole, make a layer of wafers, a layer of bananas, and half the custard mix. Repeat. Top with a sprinkling of crushed wafers. Chill well before serving.
