    Torte: Banana Nut Torte

    Recipe Introduction

    "This is takes a little time to make and you have to be very careful but it is certainly worth the extra effort."

    List of Ingredients

    9 egg whites
    3/8 tablespoon creme of tartar
    1 1/2 cups sugar
    1 1/2 cups brown sugar
    1 tablespoon vanilla extract
    1 tablespoon almond extract
    2 1/4 cups grahmn cracker crumbs
    1 cup chopped pecans
    4 bananas, peeled and sliced
    1 pint frozen whipped topping, thawed

    Recipe

    Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Beat egg whites and creme of tarter until peaks form. Combine sugars, gradually add to egg white mixture, with extracts, blend in for about 30 seconds.

    Mix the crumbs and pecan together. Fold in egg white mixture then pour in a well greased 13 x 9-inch pan. Bake for about 40 minutes or until toothpick inserted in the center of the cake comes out clean. Cool and top with bananas and whipped topping.

    YIELD: 12 Servings
