Thai: Hot and Sour Shrimp Soup (Tom yum goong)

    Source of Recipe

    Temple of Thai

    Recipe Introduction

"There are numerous Thai soup recipes. Soup is eaten almost daily, as an accompaniment to a Thai meal. Unlike in the West, it is not served as a first course, but is served with all the other dishes on the table. In Thailand, at a family-style meal, everyone shares from the serving bowl, by spooning some of the soup into his own spoon. Tom Yum is the most famous of Thai soups, being very popular in Thai restaurants in the US. It is a clear sour soup which is flavored with fresh lemon grass and kaffir lime leaf. The most well-known version uses shrimp, but you may also use firm white-flesh fish or chicken."
